  • amazing guitar

Ive got a cheap old squier strat that I want to have 'modded' so I can play jeff beck stuff like on your DVD's but I can't get the tremolo right. I tried to do it myself by loostening the screws round the back but that meant that pushing down was very difficult, there was a MASSIVE gap between the bridge and the body which I'm sure is not right and I've tried doing things like doing vibrato by hitting the bridge with my palm or making that gargling sound you do by pulling up and then letting go (at least I think you do that) but neither works. I've also taken off the middle spring to supposedly make it easier. any tips or help. By the way what tremolo and nut is that and have you done something to the body?

    Love your DVDS

    thanks

  • Not that interesting really. In the late 80s , early 90s.. i was signed to a major label in the states...and heard about the "new" custom shop dept starting up at fender. My people spoke to their people... and the next thing u know, it was mine. If you think about it... once this guitar did the 91 namm trade show... and was handled and played by the puplic... they couldnt really sell it as a new guitar any more, could they. I did them a favour ,and took it of their hands!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks guys. I wont use this in skanky clubs or pubs... but it has toured with me over the years. As long as i know its gonna be looked after. But i use it a lot for sessions and general studio stuff.

Description:

This was the guitar that nailed those where were you harmonics on the jeff beck dvds. Before the jb strat came out... the(new) custom shop dept made 12 prototypes which did the namm trade show in 91. This was one of them. All the prototypes were checked and approved by jb himself. This guitar is very special.. as u can hear (hopefully) on my 2 jeff dvds.
