How about a little music history lesson with some fun events of the past “This week…” and our birthday calendar so you can make sure you celebrate where appropriate.

• 1961 Brian Epstein first saw the Beatles play at the Cavern Club in Liverpool – where it all began.
• 1967 The first issue of Rolling Stone was published; the cover was of John Lennon.
• Birthdays: Dennis Stratton (Iron Maiden) 1954, Sandra “Pepa” Benton (Salt N Pepa) 1964
10th November
• 1963 “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Gene Autry received a gold record (it had been released 20 years before!).
• 1978 The Clash released their second album in the UK, “Give ‘Em Enough Rope,” which would be their first US release.
• Birthdays: DJ Ashba (Guns N’ Roses) 1972, Chris Joannou (Silverchair) 1979, Chris Joyce (Simply Red) 1957, Tommy “Bubba” Facenda 1939
11th November
• 1994 The first ever pop memorabilia and guitar sale at Christie’s New York was held containing the following: Jimi Hendrix's stage outfit, John Lennon's 'army' shirt, and guitars from the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia and the Beach Boys.
• KISS released the album “Rock and Roll Over”
• Birthdays: Jason White (Green Day) 1973, Jaren Followill (Kings of Leon) 1986
12th November
• 1931 Abbey Road recording studios open in London’s pricey St John’s Wood.
• 1955 Hill Valley, CA native Marty McFly travels back to this date from 1985 to make sure his parents get together; while in 1955, he plays "Johnny B. Goode" at a local sock hop, inspiring Chuck Berry's "new sound." (Ok so that really didn’t happen but it’s a good movie!)
• 1984 Madonna released “Like a Virgin”
• Birthdays: David Ellefson (Megadeth) 194, Grant Nicholas (Feeder) 1967, Aaron Stainthorpe (My Dying Bride) 1968, Neil Young 1945
13th November
• 1968 The Beatles animated movie “Yellow Submarine” opened (USA)
• 1968 Brian Jones, guitarist for the Rolling Stones buys Cotchford Farms in Sussex, England. This is where AA Milne wrote Winnie The Pooh!
• Birthdays: Nikolai Fraiture (The Strokes) 1978

14th November
• Cliff Richard records “Livin’ Lovin’ Doll” which becomes his first UK number 1 hit.
• Birthdays: T, Tobin Esperance (Papa Roach) 1979, Alec John Such (Bon Jovi) 1952, James Young (Styx) 1948
15th November
• 1956 Elvis Presley made his acting debut in the movie “Love Me Tender”
• Birthdays: Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) 1974, Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad (ABBA) 1945
